 On the occasion of Chaiti Mahaparva Chhath, purchasing of daura, soup, coconut, wheat, arwa rice etc. in the market continued till late night.  Arwa rice, gram dal, pumpkin, amla, cauliflower and coriander leaves were sold on Thursday in connection with Nahay-Khay.


 Chaiti Chhath The four-day ritual of Chaiti Chhath, the great festival of faith, is starting with Nahay-Khay on Chaitra Shukla Chaturthi Friday.  Chaiti Chhath fast is celebrated with restraint and purity in the entire country except Purvanchal and North India.  This great festival is celebrated twice a year on the lines of Navratri.  Today, those fasting for Chhath will take bath in the holy river Ganga, reservoir or in their homes by mixing Ganga water and after the puja, they will take arava rice, gram dal made from rock salt, bottle gourd vegetable etc. as Prasad and take a pledge for the four-day ritual.


 Kharna will be held on Saturday

 Today, on Chaitra Shukla Chaturthi Friday, the great festival is starting with Nahay-Khay in Rohini Nakshatra and Ayushman Yoga.  On April 13, due to the combination of Mrigashira Nakshatra and good fortune and Shobhan Yoga, the devotees will remain fast the whole day and will worship Kharna in the evening and take Prasad.  After the puja of Kharna, the 36-hour waterless fast of the devotees will begin.  On Chaitra Shukla Shashthi, on 14th April, the devotees will complete this Mahavrat with complete penance and devotion by offering Argh to the setting sun during the conjunction of Ardra Nakshatra and Gar Karan and on 15th April, during Punarvasu Nakshatra and Sukarma Yoga, the devotees will offer Argh to the rising sun.


 Shashthi Maiya's blessings are showered during the great festival.

 Pandit Jha told that Chhath Mahaparva is the festival of purification of body, mind and soul.  According to Vedic beliefs, from Nahay-Khay till Paran Saptami Tithi of Chhath, the blessings of Shashthi Mata are showered on those devotees.  He told that the fast of Surya Shashthi is observed for health, good fortune and children.  According to Skanda Purana, King Priyavrat also observed this fast.  He was suffering from leprosy.  He observed Chhath fast to get relief from this disease from Lord Bhaskar.


 There was hustle and bustle in the market till late night due to Kharna.



 The great festival of folk faith, Chhath, has started.  Chhath fasting people did shopping till late night of Thursday regarding Kharna.  There is high demand for Arwa, rice, jaggery and gram dal during Chhath Puja.  Arwa rice and gram dal are available in various qualities in the market.  Brass soup made in Banaras is being sold in the market for Rs 600 to Rs 800 per piece.  Apart from this, gold and silver coins are also available in the market.  Coconut in Patna comes from Assam, Orissa, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.  Mango wood is available in the market at Rs 100 to 120 per kg (five kg).

 On the occasion of Chaiti Mahaparva Chhath, purchasing of daura, soup, coconut, wheat, arwa rice etc. in the market continued till late night.  Arwa rice, gram dal, pumpkin, amla, cauliflower and coriander leaves were sold on Thursday in connection with Nahay-Khay.  Shopkeepers told that people celebrate Kartik Mahaparva Chhath, but they have to keep stock of items related to Chhath Puja.  Whereas daura is being sold for Rs 150-200 per piece, soup for Rs 60-70 per piece, small soup for Rs 30 per piece, earthen chulha for Rs 100-150 per piece.
